Literature Text

To study, or not to study: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The grades and criticisms of incapable markers,
Or to take my pen against a wave of questions,
And by completing end them? To study, to procrastinate -
No more - and by procrastinating to say we end
The headache and the writer's cramp
That  our hands are heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To study, to procrastinate;
To procrastinate: perchance to fail: ay, there's the rub;
For when we procrastinate, the failing grade creeps upon us
When we have shuffled into our exam room,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes us want to please and succeed;
For who would bear the red marks of failure,
The examinee's wrong, the proud marker's glee,
The pangs of disappointment, the teacher's delay,
The insolence of NZQA and the spurns
That patient of merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his success make
With a mere textbook? Who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a mountain of schoolwork,
But that the dread of gaining no credits,
The indescribable feeling from receiving
Notice in mid-January, puzzles the will
And makes us rather have applied for derived grades
Than fly to accept the externals that we know not of?
Thus studying does make idiots of us all;
And thus the native hue of intelligence
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of cramming,
And students of great pitch and moment
With this regard their exams turn awry,
And lose the answers when presented with the question.
Okay, so it's exam time.
This piece is (obviously) based off probably William Shakespeare's most famous soliloquy's spoken by Hamlet.
My English class has been studying Hamlet, and so I decided to take his "To be, or not to be" soliloquy and turn it into a bit of a joke about exams.

Yes, I know it doesn't really make sense....

But it was a great way to relieve some stress.

Gah, I have my English exam first thing tomorrow morning >.<
