Literature Text

If I had a siren's voice
Lovelier than singing birds and without compare,
Words would soar from my heart
On wings silkier than Aphrodite's hair.
Over the berating sea of meaningless vows you
Ride the thermals of my enchanting melody
Evading the boneyard beach of lost dreams
Caught in the allure of my threnody.
For you to be drunk on my lament;
Your heart held hostage with words and talon
The deluge of my love drowning you
As I squeeze your heart - and it bursts like a melon
Paradise, to cause you suffering and torment
Providing me a feast of revenge and sour triumphs.
Though I had wished to keep you prisoner with my songs

Such is the way of sirens.
I just finished reading The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan, and it got me thinking about Sirens (the half-woman, half-bird monsters with beautiful sailors who have beautiful voices and would make sailors jump out of their ships to their doom)
It's been a while since I've written a poem, so I'm a bit rusty.
Tried to create a bit of contrast, but I think the jerky rhythm kind of ruined it...ah well.
